Week #14 preview: Marbella, Pontevedra Beach

European clay season starts with this new tournament in Spain. Despite being an International event, increased prize money allows a high-class line-up with WTA #1 Serena Williams and WTA #3 Jelena Jankovicc. They will be the main favourites for the title, but they will have to be aware of local favourites and clay specialists Anabel Medina and Carla Suarez, Italian Sara Errani and Estonian Kaia Kanepi.

Pontevedra Beach (USA), International, $220,000
A new tournament in Florida takes spot of the dissapeared event of Amelia Island, starting the mini-season of green clay. Despite being an International event, the tournament will feature a good draw with 4 Top-20 players as the top favourites: Russian Nadia Petrova, Danish Caroline Wozniacki, Slovak Dominika Cibulkova and Swiss Patty Schnyder. They will have to be aware of other dangerous players such as Daniela Hantuchova, Sania Mirza, Alona Bondarenko, Samantha Stosur or Sabine Lisicki.
