The last WTA tournament before Sony Ericsson Championships takes place in Canada. After Flavia Pennetta's withdrawal, Russian Nadia Petrova
and Austrian Sybille Bammer will be the only Top 30 players and top favourites for the title, although they should watch out local favourite Aleksandra Wozniak. Youngsters Sabine Lisicki and Olga Govortsova, veteran Tamarine Tanasugarn, Swedish Sofia Arvidsson and American Betthanie Mattek are the other seeded players.
